Empowering Communities, One Loan at a Time Kendei Empowerment Foundation (KEF) Microfinance is a community-rooted initiative established to transform lives through sustainable microfinance. Since 2005, we’ve empowered over 2,700 clients—primarily women—with access to financial services that foster economic independence and dignity. About us Meet the Team Behind the Mission

Our dedicated team of board members and staff brings passion, experience, and faith-driven leadership to every aspect of KEF Microfinance. Together, they ensure that our vision of empowerment reaches communities with integrity, compassion, and excellence.
Our Team

Group Loans

Structured for groups of 10–25 members with affordable interest (10% per cycle). Disbursements align with key business seasons.

Collateral Savings

Secure your loan with a savings deposit while earning interest. If a client defaults, KEF can access the pledged amount to recover losses.

Time Deposits

Save a fixed amount and earn 10% annual interest (5% every 6 months). Ideal for long-term savers seeking stable returns.

Group Savings

Designed for group loan members and community groups. Acts as both a savings mechanism and collateral.

Providing life-changing financial services to help individuals start and grow small businesses in Liberia.

Our Story

Kendei Empowerment Foundation (KEF) Microfinance began in 2005 with a burdened heart and a bold vision. Pastor Elizabeth M. Sahr, deeply moved by the struggles of women after the war, partnered with Elder Dr. Matthias Korpu to launch a microloan initiative. With a $5,000 donation from the McGinness family in the U.S., KEF supported its first 33 women entrepreneurs—igniting a movement that continues to transform lives.

“We believed that with just a little support, women could rise and rebuild.”

– Pastor Elizabeth M. Sahr, Founder & Executive Director
